Bytecoin uses the CryptoNote protocol, and was forked 25 times in its first three years of existence. In addition to providing payment and remittance services, the Bytecoin blockchain also carries other data, such as geographical information and business data.
Bytecoin is developed by a completely anonymous team of contributors. Anonymous postings online lay out a road map for the future of Bytecoin, with several features proposed such as smart contracts with embedded turing-complete language, as well as the addition of multiple API layers for future integration with other software.
