Binance and Kraken Crypto Exchange Announces Delisting Bitcoin SV
There’s a huge rift currently going on in the cryptocurrency community between two camps - one led by the self-acclaimed Satoshi Nakamoto ‘Craig Wright and other led by Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao.
On Monday, April 15, Binance exchange announced to delist the Bitcoin SV crypto token saying that it no longer meets the necessary standards for the platform.
The rift started somewhere last week where Bitcoin SV founder Craig Wright threatened to sue some Twitter users calling him a scam. The issue dates back to the Bitcoin Cash hardfork that took place in November 2018, where Wright claimed himself to be the creator of original Bitcoin (BTC), saying he’s only the real Satoshi Nakamoto.
While Wright has tried to assert several times of him being the real Satoshi, he has failed to convince the larger section of the crypto community regarding it. Wright has been found to be engaging in a war of ego with users who accept his claims, and things have only escalated over the period of time.
Last week, Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao ultimately stepped-in issuing a warning to Craig Wright. Finally this Monday, April 15, Binance announced that there won’t be any Bitcoin SV (BSV) trading pairs available on the exchange from April 22. The exchange wrote:
“At Binance, we periodically review each digital asset we list to ensure that it continues to meet the high level of standard we expect. When a coin or token no longer meets this standard, or the industry changes, we conduct a more in-depth review and potentially delist it. We believe this best protects all of our users”.
In his another Tweet, Changpeng Zhao wrote that “I don't choose sides on technology. We let market do that. I am against fraud, such as lying to be someone”.
Supporting CZ his decision to delist Bitcoin SV from Binance, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin wrote: “It's possible to agree fully and strongly with this and at the same time fully consistently support #DelistBSV”.
Following Binance, a number of other popular crypto exchanges joined the suit. San Francisco-based Kraken exchange has also announced to delist Bitcoin SV. The Kraken crypto exchange has also faced several threats from Craig Wright for standing in support of the Bitcoin SV competitor Bitcoin Cash ABC. The exchange wrote:
“Over the last few months, the team behind Bitcoin SV have engaged in behavior completely antithetical to everything we at Kraken and the wider crypto community stands for. It started with fraudulent claims, escalating to threats and legal action, with the BSV team suing a number of people speaking out against them. The threats made last week to individual members of the community were the last straw”.
Another prominent personality Tyler Winklevoss, founder of the Gemini Exchange said that they never announced to list Bitcoin SV on their platform. Tyler seems to probably highlighting that knowing the notorious behavior of Craig Wright, they preferred to stay away from his crypto token.
As per the weekly charts on WorldCoinIndex, Bitcoin SV had lost nearly 40% of its value in the last seven days.
