MicroStrategy Plans to Bring Applications Powered by Bitcoin Lightning Network in 2023

MicroStrategy is one big corporate holding massive numbers of Bitcoin’s on its balance sheet under the vision of its executive chairman Michael Saylor. During a recent Twitter Space conversation on Wednesday, December 28, Saylor made a few revelations regarding the company’s plans for BTC in 2023.

Michael Saylor has been a big proponent of Bitcoin’s Layter-2 scalability solution- the Lightning Network. Saylor is a big-time believer in the potential of the Lightning Network and thinks that it will play a crucial role in steering the adoption for Bitcoin.

During a recent Twitter Spaces conversation, Michael Saylor said that Microstrategy is exploring ways to integrate Lightning Network Solutions. He added that the company would thus enable consumers to process cheaper, faster, and efficient Bitcoin transactions.

Saylor said: What if we actually created an enterprise deployable Lightning wallet on one side, and then on the other side … what if we created an enterprise server that you could use to monetize any website?”

MicroStrategy’s executive chairman further added that a number of businesses could leverage the Lightning Network to stimulate their clients and give them small amounts of Bitcoin anytime they apply for certain online services. Such a rewards campaign could reach millions of users.

Previously, the business intelligence firm MicroStrategy had stated that they were planning to launch enterprise-grade Lightning Wallet and Lightning servers and were also looking for a software engineer to take charge.

Saylor believes that the rollout of the Lightning Network wallet could contribute to the Internet security. For e.g. individuals who visit dubious web pages could deposit 100,000” satoshis in order to protect them from cyber threats. The assets could be restored as the users complete their website visits.

Michael Saylor said that his company is planning to spread the Lightning Network applications in the first quarter of 2023, and believes that they can target millions of users.  We want to make it possible for any enterprise to spin up a Lighting wallet and a Lightning wallet architecture in the matter of an afternoon and deploy it to [thousands or millions of people],” he said.

Earlier this week on Wednesday, December 28, MicroStrategy added an additional 2,500 Bitcoins to its kitty. The company now holds ~132,500 bitcoin acquired for ~$4.03 billion at an average price of ~$30,397 per bitcoin. As said, MicroStrategy is one of the biggest corporate holders of Bitcoin till date.
