Baidu Unveils Baidu Blockchain Engine To Enhance DApp Development In Creating A Mobile App
Chinese web services and search engine giant, Baidu, has announced the launch of the Baidu Blockchain Engine which is an operating system designed to enhance the development of decentralized applications. The company's cloud computing unit Baidu Cloud made the revelations on 14 February.
The Baidu Blockchain Engine Platform
The development of the platform employs the ABC technology that leverages the functionalities of cloud computing, artificial intelligence as well as big data. The platform aims at enhancing the development of DApp by making it simpler just like the creation of mobile apps.
According to the cloud computing unit, the new platform will boost development of blockchain technology commercially which will transform the sphere of blockchain products. The cloud-based system will also address infrastructural limitations such as high costs of data storage, the inefficient single machine storage, as well as the computing flaws evident in the current development of blockchain platforms.
BBE will provide developers an array of services that include smart and dAPP contract templates, middle-tier and multi-chain frameworks and many more. The cloud computing unit indicates that developers have maintained a firm security policy because the platform provides different mechanisms of data privacy protection.
BBE has six functions
In the announcement, the Baidu Blockchain Lab indicated that while developing the BBE they considered key six functions that the platform will primarily deliver. The functions include coverage of a trusted computing environment, enhancement of high performance and throughput, trusted cross chain interaction, scalable storage contract security audit as well as general intelligent contract. Besides, the platform is compatible with the private cloud of Baidu and thus it will allow implementation of DApps by developers in different business situations.
With leading technology companies increasingly growing interested in blockchain Baidu do not want to be left behind. The Chinese search and web services engine has invested heavily in emerging technology such as the internet of things, artificial intelligence as well as the latest advancement in the blockchain.
In 2018 the company unveiled a stock image platform called Totem that is based in blockchain to protect image intellectual rights. Similarly in 2017 Baidu launched their version of the Ethereum based game CryptoKitties. Recently they partnered with Tron in the development of cloud blockchain solutions.
