Boerse Stuttgart Digital Custody Becomes First EU-Licensed Crypto Asset Service Provider Under MiCA
Boerse Stuttgart Digital Custody has marked a milestone by becoming the first crypto asset service provider in Germany to secure a comprehensive license under the European Union’s new Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA).
This Europe-wide license underscores Boerse Stuttgart’s commitment to establishing itself as a regulated infrastructure provider for banks, brokers, and asset managers. Germany's Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) officially granted the license on January 17, as confirmed by Bernd Stockmann, head of group communications at Boerse Stuttgart Group.
“We can confirm that we received an official authorization from BaFin to provide crypto asset services. The license was granted this morning,” Stockmann stated.
The approval follows the enforcement of Europe’s MiCA, a groundbreaking regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies, which came into full effect for crypto-asset service providers on December 30. This development sets the stage for stricter compliance and a more secure environment for crypto-related activities across Europe.
Boerse Stuttgart's achievement positions it as a pioneer in navigating the evolving regulatory landscape, paving the way for broader institutional adoption of digital assets under robust oversight.
