China’s Google Equivalent Baidu Unveils the Whitepaper of Its Upcoming Blockchain Network
Chinese search and also one of the biggest tech conglomerates of the globe - Baidu - has recently released the whitepaper of its upcoming XuperChain blockchain network. “Baidu Blockchain White Paper V1.0” was released through Baidu’s Blockchain Lab - a blockchain research unit which Baidu recently launched to spearhead developments in the DLT space.
In its Twitter announcement, the search giant says that XuperChain would integrate the Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big data tools. Baidu also noted that the company is currently working on 6 independent apps relating to data security, copyright, finance, and gaming.
The whitepaper says that XuperChain network makes use of stereoscopic network and inter-chain parallel technology to support more than 10000 transactions per second. To accomplish this, the XuperChain network nodes makes use of multi-core parallel calculations to employ side chains to boost the network-speed while simultaneously optimizing the work of processors.
The XuperChain network itself has pocketed more than 50 patents with intellectual property rights taken by Baidu. The white paper also notes that the software will be completely open source. Baidu is planning to deploy the XuperChain blockchain solutions for several use-cases like supply-chain management, food safety, tourism, manufacturing, travel, social networking, intellectual property and trading, and other things.
As XuperChain is an open network, it gives developers the opportunity to develop relevant apps and basic infrastructure for the system. China’s local media publication Cnchan.com quoted Baidu’s Blockchain Lab director Tan Bai said that he hopes that third-parties will soon chose to develop their applications on the XuperChain blockchain network.
He added: "We will further promote the open source and openness of the XuperChain in the future, and provide the XuperChain as an infrastructure to all developers … We look forward to working with the industry to build a trusted ecosystem of blockchains.”
The search giant further stated that it has already announced a range of applications developed using XuperChain such as the an education certification platform Baidu Huixue, where users' CV is created by AI, an image rights management system named Baidu Totem, and a space journey game app Duyuzhou (The Universe).
Moreover, earlier this year in May 2018, China’s Wikipedia equivalent Baidu Baike also started using blockchain to track the amendments to its articles.
