Trump Advocates for U.S. Dominance in Cryptocurrency, Plans New NFT Release

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed strong support for the cryptocurrency industry, emphasizing its benefits for the nation. According to a Bloomberg report published Tuesday, Trump urged the U.S. to lead the global crypto race, warning that if America neglects the sector, other countries, particularly China, could dominate.

“If I throw it aside, it’s going to be picked up in another country, most likely China — they’re pretty advanced in that sphere,” Trump stated in the interview. “So you have to look at it — what I want, again, is what is good for the country.”

As the Republican presidential nominee, Trump declared that cryptocurrency is “not going away” and announced plans to release another set of NFTs. Reflecting on his previous successful NFT ventures, he noted, “I did it three times [and] I’m going to do another one because the people want me to do another one.” Trump's NFTs have offered buyers unique perks, such as a piece of his suit or tie or admission to a dinner event with him.

Trump also highlighted the U.S. crypto industry’s “good foundation,” despite its early stages, and mentioned his connections with “top-flight” industry professionals.

Trump, who once viewed cryptocurrency unfavorably, has recently shifted his stance to support the burgeoning industry. His campaign began accepting cryptocurrency donations in May, raising $3 million in the last quarter, according to the Wall Street Journal. The Republican nominee has also pledged to support bitcoin miners if elected to the White House. Prominent figures in the crypto world, including Gemini co-founders Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, Ark Invest CEO Cathie Wood, and Kraken co-founder Jesse Powell, have expressed support or made donations to Trump’s campaign.

Earlier this week, Trump chose Sen. J.D. Vance as his running mate. Vance, a Republican from Ohio, shares favorable views on cryptocurrency and has criticized the Securities and Exchange Commission during its lawsuit against the crypto startup DEBT Box.
